Frequently Asked Questions
Drama
1.
About rules no.3 “one group consists of 6 – 10
students including narrator and crews”, i just wanna confirm that, does it mean
that for example, I
have 10 casts, and because the max.no.of people is 10, those 10 casts also
become the crew (set the background, props, etc.)? If the answer is yes, does
it mean that this is also true: for example i have 6 casts, and i can add 4
more people acting as only crews. (as long as there are max.10 people on stage,
it is allowed?)As a comparison, last year, it was clarified by the committee
that 10 people is the number of the cast, and the number of crew was not stated
/ limited (since to provide and to build a background setting you’ll need a lot
of people).
è In the rules the committee wrote that no additional person is allowed to
help during the performance, however, if a particular team has some unofficial
crews to help them bringing stuffs such as the background settings or costumes,
or doing their make ups, it’s perfectly fine because those are the things done
not within the performance. Yet, during the performance, only 10 persons are
allowed to be on stage and backstage. So yes, if all the 10 become the casts,
they also should be the crews during the performance. The next statement is
also true. The thing is, during the performance, only 10 persons are allowed to
take part. The unofficial crews are not allowed to give any help during the
performance. Besides that, only the 10 persons will be acknowledged as
participants and thus only the 10 will get the facilities from the committee
such as certificates, booklets, and co-cards. The committee can still provide
snacks for the unofficial crews with additional fee and the number of the
unofficial crews must be informed beforehand.
2.
Is the sound operator included in the amount of
10 people mentioned as crew above?
è
Yes, since the sound operator
operates during the performance.
Spelling Bee
1.
In prelim round, how wrong is wrong? Is
one-letter mistake considered wrong, or is it minus one?
è
In the preliminary, one-letter
mistake is considered wrong.
2.
Is there any specific theme for prelim and final
round?
è
No, the theme for the preliminary
and final round will be general. However, the final round will have a higher
word difficulty level than the preliminary round.
3.
For quarter final and semi final round: rules
no.7: “asking to repeat the word, define, use it in a sentence”
·
should this be included within the 10 seconds,
or it is allowed to be asked after the 10 seconds?
è That should be included within the 10 seconds.
·
If it must be within the 10 secs, will asking
these things reduce the 10 second time, or the time will pause?
è
If the contestant chooses to use the
hint, the time will be paused while the pronouncer is explaining the word’s
hint.
·
Can the participant ask for all these 3 helps?
è
Yes, they can.
4.
For the semi final round: ‘each word has
different point’. But the committee will make sure that each paper contains
word list that is in equal level and points with the word list in the other
papers, right?
è
Yes, of course we will.
5.
For quarter and semi final: will the committee
ensure that the level of words will be the same between one participant and the
others?
è
Yes, of course we will.
News Casting
1.
The time 3-5 minutes is the time for 1
participant or 2 (since they read in group of 2, right?)?
è
The 3-5 minutes will be for two
participants since they will be performing in groups of two.
2.
The grouping system that you use in the prelim:
a.
To what extent does this grouping affect the
scoring of EACH participant?
è
We will inform the judges that the
grouping must not blur the grading. Each participant will be graded purely by
their individual competence in reading the news.
b.
Just want to clarify: there are 2 scripts to be
read by 2 people, who are going to perform in one turn / group. Will one script
be read by 2 people in turn (secara bergantian)?
è It is true that there will be two different scripts that the committee
will provide in the preliminary round. However, each group will only get one of
them and the decision of which script they will use will be based on the
lottery after they were grouped together, and of course the committee will give
two scripts for each group. For example, group 1 will read news script 1. So
both of the contestants in group 1 will get the 1st news script.
Story Telling
1.
Prelim round: About rules no.1: does the figure
have to be the ‘first’ in its kind? Or it could be about any people, any
generation, from any era, as long as it’s about profession related to
Indonesian culture?
è
It doesn’t have to be the first in
its kind. It is perfectly fine to be creative as long as it is about profession
related to Indonesian culture.
2.
There is a difference between the explanation of
the final round on the 1st page (the short one, labeled as point C) and the one
in the next two pages (the longer explanation about the final round). Will the
final round use mystery box, or envelopes containing a number? Will the
finalist develop a story based on a property they take, or based on a series of
pictures?
è
We are very sorry for the mistake.
The final round will be using envelopes containing a number. Thus, the
finalists will be required to develop a story based on a series of pitures.
